LAST MINUTE… Burak Elmas: “They will experience what we went through”

Galatasaray President Burak Elmas made a statement at the club’s Ordinary Council Meeting in April. Headlines from Elmas’ words are as follows:

“As Atilla İlhan said, ‘breakups are also included in love.’ Today I am here for the last time. Because the departed are still lovers. About 9 months ago, I gave a thank you speech in this spiritual hall. Today I am giving my last speech.

“WHAT HAPPENED. WE NEED TO LOOK FORWARD”

I guarantee that. Whatever the case, we will not allow the last ordinary general assembly to inflict a future-looking wound that is difficult to repair, and to cause a problem in front of Galatasaray. It happened. Now we have to look ahead. Because, indeed, Galatasaray is going through a very, very critical period.

The values and family integrity, which are the most important elements of Galatasaray, have been under threat for a long time. Our Chairman of the Council put a few important slides today. We see that it is necessary to fight by realizing the dangerous situation Galatasaray is in, feeling in the heart, not in the mouth.

“THEY WILL ALSO EXPERIENCE OUR EXPERIENCES”

Metin Öztürk and Eşref Hamamcıoğlu, along with their precious friends, put their hands under the stone. I guarantee you, they will experience what we went through. This is not an individual situation. Those who made Galatasaray a weekend entertainment for themselves, who criticize Galatasaray for self-fulfillment rather than to go to the future together, who take revenge on people through Galatasaray, who see the Galatasaray family as a tool rather than as their values will continue to do this to them.

Among these people, you will all see common people, regardless of the chairman or the board of directors. I have a very important request from you. Whoever is elected on April 30, let them serve Galatasaray with the support of the majority, not to be worn down by the voices of the minorities. Let’s let them complete their mandate. Let’s make the criticism based on the subject, not the person. This is very important for the future of Galatasaray.

RESEARCH COMMISSION

I also want to talk about the research commission. Our Chairman of the Council established a commission. The aim of this commission is not a witch hunt, not to detect corruption or theft, but to detect the mistakes that have brought Galatasaray here financially and to ensure that these are not done again by Galatasaray people, and that Galatasaray does not come to such a situation again. Let’s not put people, personal fights first, let’s not act by embezzling problems on people.

After the ordinary general assembly, we heard the decision of the members transparently and did what was necessary. We have transparently opened all communication channels of Galatasaray to all our candidates and all teams, with the awareness that these communication channels are not the management’s but Galatasaray’s communication channels. We are doing our best for a selection process worthy of Galatasaray by allowing them to make the necessary explanations inside the club and the stadium. Galatasaray management and president will continue to represent until April 30. After that, we will hand over the management to the new management and the president.

This is a special council meeting. Distinguished candidates will introduce themselves and their teams. Surely they will criticize our period. This is very natural. In order for them to make these criticisms comfortably and to avoid mutual questions and answers, with your permission, we will leave the Council meeting when my speech is over.

HE THANKED

I would like to thank my colleagues that I work with, my young friend whose name you do not know but who serves Galatasaray in the background, and all my teammates who are fighting problems in the branches without expecting appreciation or being noticed. I would like to thank all the chairmen of the board who supported our unification efforts during our term and worked in harmony with the management in inter-institutional communication.

From now on, Galatasaray has to fight inside, which is more important than the outside, I think. Will Galatasaray defend its family structure, values, values that are mentioned but not lived? Will Galatasaray represent the future of sharing Galatasaray over Galatasaray, and the battle of gaining power from Galatasaray for the future? Galatasaray cannot achieve this unity without giving this fight of ideas and making a joint decision. In order to support our new administrations, we, as Galatasaray, have to give this battle of ideas within ourselves.

Thank you all for the respect, patience and support you have shown us. In our last divan speech, I bid you all farewell with respect and reverence. Thank you all.”
